MobyMax tracks Time Spent to measure focused learning activity within a student's account. This metric only accounts for time actively spent working on problems, ensuring accurate tracking of engagement.
- Time is calculated per problem, with a two-minute cap per question.
- Distraction time is excluded, providing a clear measure of actual work completed.
- The On Task % metric complements Time Spent by indicating how efficiently a student is using their time.
How "Time Spent" is Calculated
Example Calculation:
- A student spends 50 seconds on one problem and 120 seconds on another.
- Total Time Spent = 170 seconds → Rounded to 3 minutes in reports.
Time for each problem is capped at 2 minutes, meaning:
- If a student spends longer than 2 minutes on a problem, only 2 minutes will be counted.
- Excess time will be reflected in the On Task % metric instead.
Understanding On Task %
The On Task % measures how much of a student’s session is spent actively working on problems.
Example:
- A student spends 30 minutes logged into MobyMax.
- They only spend 10 minutes actively answering problems.
- Result:
- Time Spent = 10 minutes
- On Task % = 33% (10 out of 30 minutes focused work)
Low On Task % may indicate distractions, while higher percentages show strong engagement.
