New Moby offers enhanced features related to skills, which provide various benefits to teachers. Along with the ability to assign any skill from the MobyMax curriculum, teachers can also assign skills from a shared community of teachers or create and assign their own skills.

Prior to assigning skills, teachers can preview the scope and sequence of skills within a grade level. Once skills have been assigned, student progress can be easily tracked. Whether you're assigning skills for an entire standard to all students, or targeting specific skills for an intervention group, MobyMax has you covered!

To assign skills:

  1. Sign in to your MobyMax teacher account.
  2. Select the “Curriculum” tab at the top of the page.
  3. Click the subject button (i.e. Math, Language, etc...).
  4. Select the “Assign” tab.
  5. Click “Assign Skills” located on the left side of the page.
  6. Select what you would like to do:
    • (A) Select and assign MobyMax practice skills.
    • (B) Select and assign teacher-made practice skills.
    • (C) Create and assign your own practice skill.


For (A) MobyMax curriculum

  1. Select the radio button next to “MobyMax Curriculum” and click “Next”.
  2. Sort by grade level with the drop-down menu or click the “ > ” next to the grade level to expand and view skills and available problems.
  3. Click the box(es) next to the skill(s) you want to assign and click “Next”.
  4. Select the box(es) to the left of the student(s) name(s) and click “Next”.
  5. Enter the assignment name.
  6. Enter the due date and/or start date. (Optional)
  7. Select whether to show the assignment on the student’s Assignments tab now, to schedule it for later, or leave it unscheduled.
  8. Select where the assignment should be placed in the list of student assignments.
  9. Click “Assign.”


For (B) Skills created by teachers

  1. Click the radio button next to “Skills created by teachers” and click “Next”.
  2. Use the search bar to search for a specific skill, or use the drop-down to filter by grade level or by the type of shared skills.
  3. Click the box(es) next to the skill(s) you want to assign, and click “Next”.
  4. Click the box(es) to the left of the student(s) name(s) and click “Next”.
  5. Enter the due date and/or start date. (Optional)
  6. Select whether to show the assignment on the student’s Assignments tab now, to schedule it for later, or leave it unscheduled.
  7. Select where the assignment should be placed in the list of student assignments.
  8. Click “Assign.”


For (C) Create and assign your own practice skill.

  1. Click the radio button next to “Create your own skills”. You can add problems to your practice skill from any or all of the listed problem categories.
  2. Select whether to add problems from MobyMax or Teacher-made skills, or create a new problem, and click “Next.”
  3. If adding problems from MobyMax or Teacher-made skills:
    • Click the “ > ” next to the grade level to expand and view skills and available problems.
    • Select the radio button for each problem you would like to add and click “Add Selected Problems”.
  4. To create your own new problem:
    • Select the type of problem you would like to create
    • Enter the Question and Answer(s) in the box(es) provided, and click “Add problem to skill”.
  5. Once all problems have been added, click “Next”.
  6. Click the box(es) to the left of the student(s) name(s) and click “Next”.
  7. Enter the assignment name.
  8. Enter the due date and/or start date. (Optional)
  9. Click “Next.”
  10. Select the grade level of the skill and update your sharing preferences from the drop-down menu.
  11. Click “Assign.”


Note: Teachers have the ability to sequence and delete skills in the event that they need to adjust what skills their students are working on.




Teachers using Classic Moby will benefit from a quick and hassle-free skill assignment system that is designed to be flexible and adaptive. Teachers can target specific areas where their students need improvement and bulk assign those skills to all students or a group of students.

To assign skills:

  1. Sign in to your MobyMax teacher account.
  2. Select the subject area link on the left sidebar under the "Subjects" header.
  3. Click the subject area button (i.e. Mathematics, Language, etc...).
  4. Select the "Lessons" tab at the top of the page.
  5. Click on the “Assign” sub-tab.
  6. Select the name of a group or the "Entire Class" option.
    • You can click on the name of a student instead to assign skills individually to that student.
  7. Click on the grade level link under the "Grade Levels" header to view assignable skills.
  8. Place a checkmark in the box(es) for any skill(s) that you would like to assign.
  9. Click on the "Assign" button.
  10. Fill in the assignment details section and select any optional dates or display preferences. 
  11. Click “Continue."
