The number of Common Core State Standards in a grade varies considerably by grade and subject area; for example, in math, there are 25 standards in kindergarten to 47 standards in 6th grade. If a student gains proficiency in one standard in kindergarten math, the grade level increases by .02. However, in the sixth grade, a student must pass five math standards to show a 0.1 increase in their total progress monitoring grade level. On average, a standard has either one or two lessons assigned to the standard.
