MobyMax's MathematicsLanguage, and Foundational Reading modules are designed to automatically assign a placement test to students by default.  If desired, teachers can opt out of assigning a placement test to their students in a subject module and instead start them at a predetermined grade level or manually assign specific skills for practice. This provides flexibility in tailoring the learning experience to meet individual student needs.

To start a student in Mathematics, Language, or Foundational Reading without a placement test:

  1. Sign in to your MobyMax teacher account.
  2. Select the "Tools" tab at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the "Settings" button.
  4. Click on the "Individual Student Settings" tab at the top of the page.
  5. Place a checkmark to the left of each student you would like to update placement test settings for.
  6. Select the "Update Settings" button.
  7. Click the "Modules" link at the top of the page.
  8. Use the left sidebar to select the "Math" or "ELA" subject area.
  9. Click on the "Learning" link that populates below and then on the name of the subject (Mathematics, Language, or Foundational Reading)
  10. Check the box next to "Start student with no placement test," and use the drop-down to select the preferred starting grade level for that student.
  11. Click on the "Save and Close" button.

Note: If a student has already started working on the subject, these steps will not restart the student in the subject. Instead, teachers can choose to delete an existing placement test or restart the student in the subject module.
