The “Student ID” field is now required when registering a student. This field has some great benefits for you and your school! Having a student ID in place will help keep prior year data at the start of every school year and will allow easy updates to student accounts year to year. It also reduces the number of duplicate accounts at a school as long as you’re consistent with your student ID format.

As long as the ID is unique, you don't have to use an official number (such as a lunch number), but you may want to check with your admin to see if there is a format they would prefer for you to use. You are able to use numbers and letters for this field. Currently, any student who does not have an ID will be grandfathered in and still does not need to have a student ID. However, you can add one for them if you would like.
